There is worrying news from the First Manchester bus company which provides services to and from Unsworth. A press release published in this week’s Bury Times suggests that there are going to be timetable changes to our local bus services, including cuts to some of our routes.
The 95 service will no longer run via Unsworth, Sunnybank or Whitefield as this will be changed to run between Prestwich and Salford only.
There will be timetable changes to the 92 and 93 services, but at this stage it is not clear what those changes will be. It is assumed this will be a cut in the number of journeys on those routes.
There will also be some timetable changes during morning peak times to the 97 and 98 service from Bury to Manchester, which runs via Unsworth, Radcliffe, Prestwich and Carr Clough. Again, it is not clear what the changes are; they could be time changes or more cuts to the number of journeys.
The 94 from Pilsworth to North Manchester General Hospital, via Unsworth, Prestwich and Carr Clough, will no longer be provided by First, with M Travel taking over delivery of the service. It is not known at the moment if M Travel will provide the same 94 service as First previously provided or if they will make changes.
The changes will be effective from April 23, the date confirmed for the closure of First’s depot, in Rochdale Old Road.
